A strategy game with hidden pieces
Chess where the value of every piece is hidden. You lift a disc, look at it yourself and must move that piece. Your opponent only sees the square you moved from.
Values: king, queen, rook, knight, bishop and pawn.
More than chess
Pieces move by the usual rules, but each one is hidden under a disc. The winner is not the one who calculates further, but the one who remembers better and reads the opponent more accurately.
Pieces move and pawns promote as in chess. There is no en passant. White starts. The game ends when a king is captured. A draw may be claimed after 50 moves without a capture.

Six ranks, a shuffled row

For the first ten games I simply memorised what had been opened where. Then I realised my opponent was doing the same, and started to bluff.
I play 3+2: there is no time to calculate, you decide by feel. I never had that kind of tension in ordinary chess.
